The Pegasus Soccer Club is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation created for the purpose of encouraging and supporting the expansion of soccer opportunities for boys and girls who exhibit advanced ability and interest in soccer.

Since our inception in 1984,
Pegasus Soccer Club teams have enjoyed a long history of success – from league play to tournaments to cups at the state and regional levels.  As early as 1987 one of our boys’ teams won the club’s first State Championship and went on to win the Midwest Regional title. In 1992, Pegasus added its first girls’ team.  After just two years this squad brought home a State Championship, a feat the team repeated two years later.

Today, Pegasus continues to offer a competitive, travel soccer experience for boys and girls ages 6 to 18.  In the spring of 2006, the Club introduced our Academy Program to the community for boys & girls, ages 4 to 8.  Our Academy Program continues to provide a great opportunity for young (pre-travel) players to receive professional training and develop their emerging soccer skills while enhancing their enthusiasm for the sport.  Since that time, scores of young players have participated in the program.

As our founder, Klaus Reuge, would say, the Pegasus Soccer Club is "For the Good of Soccer". The actions and decisions of coaches and board members should be consistent with promoting the good of soccer.   The club is based in Deerfield Illinois, and we welcome players from surrounding communities.

The Pegasus Soccer Club is a volunteer-based organization with the support of a paid Director of Coaching and professional trainers. An Executive Committee oversees the general direction of the Club and establishes policies. A (seven person) Operating Committee manages the day-to-day operational aspects of the Club. Teams are each managed by their own Team Manager (with support from the Club). Parents are encouraged to get (operationally) involved - in either direct support of their child's team or in support of Club activities. Player development is the responsibility of our professional trainers.

Board members and other volunteers have assumed responsibilities related to day-to-day operations of the club. These responsibilities are listed below:

President - Billy Goodman

Director of Coaching  Shannon Hartinger        (ShannonHartinger@PegasusSoccerClub.org)

Club Administrator - Rhonda Abramson

Mission Statement

The mission of the Pegasus Soccer Club is to develop young players and help them understand and enjoy the game of soccer by providing a well-rounded competitive experience. We endeavor to promote confidence and self-esteem through emphasis on individual skill development, the spirit of teamwork, and sportsmanship in a positive competitive atmosphere. We achieve this goal through a parent-driven organization with the help and expertise of paid soccer trainers. We strive to create an environment where the game of soccer is fun and is loved by those who participate now and in the years to come, providing fond memories for the players and their families.

Philosophy - "For the Good of Soccer"

As our founder, Klaus Reuge, would say, the Pegasus Soccer Club is "For the Good of Soccer". The actions and decisions of coaches and board members should be consistent with promoting the good of soccer.

Our approach is to focus on the development of each child as both a skilled soccer player and a good team player, while also striving to create positive life-long attitudes and values among our players.

Pegasus Soccer Club has been providing boys and girls with a competitive travel soccer experience for over 25 years.

Since our inception in 1984, Pegasus Soccer Club teams have enjoyed a long history of success – from league play to tournaments to cups at the state and regional levels.

In 1986, Pegasus won its first boys state cup, beating the Arlington Aces and future US National team member Brian McBride 4-0 in the U14 finals.  That same summer, that same team took 2nd at the Midwest regionals, losing to St. Louis Busch SC.  In 1987, we took our revenge and beat Busch to win our first Midwest Regional Cup finals. In 1989 Pegasus beat Libertyville SC 2-0 in the U17 state finals at the Schwaben Center. In 1991, the U19 boys team beat the Chicago Soccers 3-1 to capture the Club's 3rd State title.  That team was eventually ranked #4 in the overall National Rankings.  In 1992, Pegasus added its first girls’ team. After just two years this squad brought home a State Championship, a feat the team repeated two years later.
