Tryouts General Information and Results
Tryout Schedule
Tryouts will be held between May 31st and June 5th at Brickyards Park. Walk-ups are accepted, but it is recommended you pre-register. Players from surrounding communities of Deerfied are welcome. Tryout results will be posted on the Pegasus website by 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 5, 2011 within the Tryouts section on the Results page.
Tryouts Fees
There is a $25 fee for participating in the tryouts if the player registers on-line. A $40 fee will be charged to those players who don't register on-line and who register at the field instead. Please note that the tryout fee helps to offset the cost of the tryouts, and includes a numbered tryout participant t-shirt.
Registering for Tryouts
All players should register on-line, in advance. Please note that on-line registration will close 48 hours prior to the start of the first tryout session for each particular age group/gender. We anticipate our on-line registration system being opened by Monday, April 4th. Instructions are provided on the Tryouts Registration page.
Check In Prior to Tryout Sessions
Players should plan to arrive early to their tryout sessions - to leave sufficient time to complete the Check-In process and warm up. On-field Registration and Check-In tables will be open 30 minutes before and close 10 minutes prior to the start of each tryout session.
Tryout Sessions
Participants are expected to be at both tryout sessions listed for their proper age group and gender. Players must wear shin guards, and bring both a water bottle and a soccer ball to tryout sessions. Players must also wear safety glasses as needed.

Players wishing to tryout as a designated team goalie, must indicate that they are interested when they register at the field - to be given consideration as a goalie. Players who tryout for and accept a goalie position commit in advance to the following: U9 & U10 - minimum 25% of game in goal; U11 & U12 - minimum of 50% of game in goal; U13 and older - 100% of game in goal. U9 to U12 goalies meeting the above will be given up to 25% more field playing time for the rest of that game relative to other teammates.
Tryout participants should wear shin guards and bring a water bottle and a ball.
Players will be allowed to participate during the tryouts without wearing protective eye wear – however all players will be required to wear protective eye wear during the regular season (if applicable).
All players must provide a copy of their birth certificate to verify age, as required by the Illinois Youth Soccer Association. Also, all players must provide a photo. This is the photo that will be on the league player pass. This photo will also assist coaches and staff during tryouts and must be uploaded during online tryout registration. There are league requirements for the composition of the photo, which should be comparable to a passport photo. See Registration Items page for more information.

Club Registration
Registration and accepting of roster offers will occur at Jewitt Park Community Center on Monday, June 6th only from 3:00 - 9:00 pm. All players MUST register during these times in order to not forfeit their newly acquired roster spot. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Club and will require a $525 non-refundable deposit.
Team Formation
Tryout participants are evaluated by the Director of Coaching, Pegasus trainers, as well as other independent evaluators through observation in various drills and game-related activities. Evaluator ratings and current trainer input will be turned over to our Director of Coaching for use in team formation.
Many factors are considered during team formation including skill level of individuals, overall skill level of team, number of tryout participants, roster size limits, etc. Some age groups can support multiple teams (typically an “A” and a “B” team); while others can only support one team due to the number of tryout participants and relative skill levels.
During team formation, some players may receive a phone call prior to the posting of final results. This aids in supporting decisions about how many teams we may be able to form at an age group. For example, if there is a player new to Pegasus, we might call to gauge interest/commitment so we have a better feel for total number of players. If you do not receive a phone call, it does not mean anything. Most players will not receive phone calls. We only mention it here since word travels fast once one person gets a phone call.
Commitment
During registration, each player and parent will be asked to read and sign our "Player and Family Commitment and Expectation" sheet. Because soccer is a team sport, we need commitment from each team member in order for the players and team to develop and have an overall positive experience. We have always tried to accommodate family and religious conflicts and will continue to do this to the best of our ability. We also have to balance the well-being of the whole team.
Fees
Fees for the 2011-2012 soccer year are $1,575 for U-08-U14 or $795 for high school-age players, plus uniform fee of approximately $140. The fee includes Fall and Spring seasons (including two 1-1/2 hour practices and a one hour skills training per week), Fall pre-season camp, Winter league play and practice, and two tournaments (one in Fall and one in Spring).
